This year, they will be singing opera again!
Singing Opera! is a programme designed to provide access to classical music, launched in 2023. Once again this year, the Jacquemart-André Museum will be welcoming high-priority education network students to bring its Salon de Musique back to life.
The project objective
Our Singing Opera! project offers children a unique artistic experience thanks to the work of opera singers from Opera a Palazzo, in the heart of the Jacquemart-André Museum and its Salon de Musique. The project offers 25 children who are far removed from culture an immersive discovery of lyrical art. As well as introducing them to opera and helping them discover the heritage of their local region, our project aims to open up new prospects for their future.
This year, a CM2 class from the Gustave Rouanet high-priority education network school in the 18th arrondissement of Paris will be taking part in the project.
You can discover the video programme here, showing the children who took part in last year's project.
A four-stage programme
The programme is structured in several steps to facilitate the sequencing of learning and to deepen the link with the artists.
1st step : the educational workshop
A 1h30 educational workshop in class, led by a professional mediator, on the history of the Jacquemart-André Museum and its Salon de Musique.
2nd step : visit to the Jacquemart-André Museum
A guided tour of the museum led by a professional cultural mediator.
3rd step : singing workshops
6 workshops of 1h30 of artistic practice led by Opera a Palazzo artists. Discover the artists' biographies here.
4th step : performance at the Jacquemart-André Museum
The highlight of the project will be the children's performance in the Jacquemart-André Museum's Salon de Musique. By bringing this space back to life, they will be able to show off their participation in the project to their friends and families: by regaining self-confidence in their abilities, the children will be more committed to their studies.
The concert programme includes :
- The Bohemians' Chorus, La Traviata, Giuseppe Verdi
- Children's Chorus, Carmen, Georges Bizet
- Papageno-Papagena duet, The Magic Flute, Mozart
The sessions will start at the beginning of September and the final presentation will take place at the end of November.
